A lot’s happened in 15 years. Back in 1998 I was getting to grips with my very first console jumping head first into a brave new (pixelated) world - to put that into context Metal Gear Solid, Spyro the Dragon, Pokemon Red /Blue, Half Life and Banjo Kazooie were all brand new. Kinda makes you feel old right?
But importantly our post today marks the 15 year anniversary release of Resident Evil 2. Tis nostalgic to think that back then, like Leon, I was a complete rookie unaccustomed to holding down R1 to shoot and feebly swiping his knife at the zombie onslaught (not my proudest gaming moment) 15 years on we’ve turned into grizzled veterans of horror survival, unflinching and determined in the face of on-screen terror.
There’s many a ‘Happy Birthday Resi!’ sentiment going around on the net so if you’re a Resi fan we’ve got two big pieces of news for you.
Number 1: To mark the 17th anniversary of the VERY FIRST Resi game on March 22nd, fans can acquire “The Resident Evil Anniversary Package” – a nice bundle that comes with HD remakes and download codes of all our beloved Resi’s 1-6. It’s ¥8,990 so that roughly works out as £65 - a must have for any die-hard collector but being a Japan only release tis everyman for himself to get their hands on it
Number 2: We all knew it was coming, but it’s nice to have the official confirmation: Resident Evil Revelations will be making its debut on XB360, PS3, WiiU and PC. Previously exclusive to the 3DS Revelations bridges the gap between Resi games 4 and 5 and has you playing as Jill (and new partner Parker Luciani) looking for Chris on an abandoned ship in the Mediterranean. We’ve got new enemies, difficulties and a few new ‘surprises’ on its Raid mode, so if you’ve finished 6 and are still hungering for more, Revelations will be here for 24th May.
